Dean thought about pretending to be asleep, ignore Sam's question for as long as he could... contrary to what Sam might claim after this, what he'd done had been an absolute last ditch effort to save him. It wasn't settling right... he didn't want his brother to obey his every damn command, take away his choices.

But what could he do when he was doing everything the absolute wrong way? The way that was going to turn him into a monster, into something that won't give Dean a choice in hunting or not?
